Wear red on Friday in support of all our troops.
Where did all this start – I really do not know. Someone had a bright idea to show support for our troops by wearing a red shirt every Friday. I guess the best thing written about it is on the American website Red Shirt Fridays.
“The mission of RedShirtFridays.org is to show support for our servicemen and servicewomen. We are not a political organization. We do not care whether or not one supports or does not support our nation’s specific military missions. We care only about making our support of our servicemen and servicewomen known to our fellow Americans and the world. We are a silent majority that does not wish to remain silent anymore. We wish to let our servicemen and servicewomen know we support their sacrifice and that we will not forget them; we will do this by wearing red every Friday.”
There is an Australian site for this as well. 係 Redfriday. This is what these people have to say about themselves:
“Red Friday is an initiative to show our support as a nation to the soldiers who are currently serving our country, and fighting to keep all Australians free. We want to encourage all Australians to show their support of our troops and wear red this Friday, and every Friday until they are home. The message will soon get back to them that the nation is standing behind them, and standing proud!
Red Friday was started by a young mother in WA with no connection to the military – she just thought Australia should show its support for the men and women who put their lives in danger to protect us. Red Friday is simply about saying ‘Thank You’ to the men and women who sacrifice being with their families for each of us. We want to recognise that the vast majority of Australians do support our troops. We hope to get the word out with this peaceful, dignified & respectful campaign, every Friday”.
In all instances with every website I have seen and there are many the web owners all sell T shirts and other things. All funds they say go to a major institution to help returned service people one way or another,
